Poetry Reading at Wood Library
Celebrate National Poetry Month with Wood Library this April.
On Saturday, April 25th, join us for an afternoon of poetry featuring readings by five local poets: Steven Donner, John Roche, G.E. Schwartz, Steve Tills and Dwain Wilder. Books will be available for purchase.
Event begins at 2:00 pm and refreshments will be served. Please register online at woodlibrary.org.
About the Poets:
Steven Donner enjoys writing narrative and lyrical poetry, and has even written a few plays in verse. He is fueled by the challenge of finding fresh, unique rhymes and novel rhythms in hope of bringing new life to an ancient artform.
John Roche's books include The Joe Poems: The Continuing Saga of Joe the Poet (FootHills Publishing); Road Ghosts (theenk Books); Topicalities (FootHills), On Conesus (FootHills); Ground Effects (Allicin Press). He teaches poetry at RIT and serves on the Board of the Just Poets organization.
G. E. Schwartz, born in Pottsville, Pennsylvania in 1958, is the author of Only Others Are (Legible Press), World(Furniture Press) and Thinking in Tongues (Loose Gravel Press).
Steve Tills' books include Invisible Diction (Loose Gravel Press); Mr. Magoo (Hank's Original Loose Gravel Press);Behave(D-PRESS); a chapbook from Helen Keller Series (PO25centEM); Rugh Stuff (theenk Books). He is the founder of theenk Books and co-founder of Hank's Original Loose Gravel Press. He edits the poetry and criticism journals Black Spring and Loose Gravel Magazine and maintains various literary blogs.
Dwain Wilder's collection, Under the Only Moon was published by FootHills Publishing in 1991. He is past editor of "Zen Bow," the quarterly publication of the Rochester Zen Center. He co-edited (with Karla Linn Merrifield) Liberty's Vigil, the Occupy Anthology; 99 Poets for the 99% and edited (with co-editor Bart White) Vigil for the Marcellus Shale.His work has appeared in "Kudzu Review," "Shadow/Play," Le Mot Juste, "Lake Affect," "Hot Air" and "Zen Bow." Dwain lives in a quaint little cottage at the edge of a large dark forest.
